Connected users, computer notes, and My Computers on a phone#

Browser#

  • New Report a problem without leaving your session. The settings drawer has a Feedback section whose Send Feedback button opens a support request form in a new browser tab. See Connect from a web browser.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New See who is on each computer without opening it. Current Active Connections on the team overview and the new Connected Users column in Computers list the people connected to each computer, with their names and email addresses on hover and a control that copies them. A CSV export carries every connected person. You see this for computers you can connect to yourself, and only if your team's plan includes active connections. See See who is connected.
  • New Read a computer's note from the list. Show the Notes column in Computers to see each computer's note beside it, and click a note to read it in full. Filtering and export use the whole note. See Add a note.
  • New My Computers fits a phone screen. On a narrow screen, My Computers shows each computer as a full-width card with its name, status, operating system, and tags, instead of a wide table that scrolls sideways. See Connect from a web browser.
  • New Invite someone by email while you are looking at your SSO directory. Where Add Users lists SSO users, that card now has an Invite by Email button that opens the invite dialog directly. See Add and manage users.
  • Improved Large teams stay responsive. The Users table no longer stalls on teams with thousands of users, the SSO users list scrolls smoothly at directory scale, and tagging many rows at once is sent as one request with a progress indicator instead of a call per row. See Organize with tags and custom fields.
  • Improved Know what a past-due payment does to your bill. While a payment is past due, the billing banner states that removing or disabling users does not lower the past-due bill, and it now appears on Users and on a user's page, where remote access is turned on and off. See Choose a plan.
  • Improved Find out why a provisioned user never appeared. Activity Logs now record when SCIM confirms an account that already existed, which is therefore not added to the team, and when such a user is skipped for a group. See Provision users with SCIM.
  • Improved People and computers are shown the same way in Computers, Users, and Access Groups: overlapping avatars, colored by platform for computers, with the full list and a copy control on hover. Each of those lists can now be reached with the keyboard.
  • Improved The dashboard's download card links the Jump Desktop apps for iPhone and iPad, Windows, Mac, and Android. See Install Jump Desktop.
  • Fixed Signing in with Google hanging on Google's "One moment please…" screen in some browsers, so the sign-in never completed.
  • Fixed A column dragged to a new position in Computers, Users, or My Computers returning to its previous position after unrelated activity in the dashboard.
  • Fixed Saving a Connection Port Range in a Connect Configuration silently doing nothing when only one of the two ports was changed. See Connect Configurations.

Browser connections, diagnostic logs, and SSO improvements#

Browser#

  • New Reconnect faster from the browser. When you connect from a web browser, you can choose to remember the credentials for the host. Saved credentials are encrypted and stored locally on your device. See Connect from a web browser.
  • New Open the web app from your phone's home screen. You can add the Jump Desktop web app to the home screen of your mobile device to open My Computers and connect to your hosts more quickly.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New Get diagnostic logs without involving the user. Team administrators can request and download Jump Desktop Connect logs from a computer's details page, which reduces back-and-forth with end users during troubleshooting. The computer must be online and running Jump Desktop Connect 10 Beta 6 or later. Download links expire after one hour. See Get diagnostic logs from a computer.
  • New Rename your SSO company name. Teams can change their SSO company name in the dashboard without changing the underlying SAML configuration, which helps when a company changes its name or moves users to a new domain. See Set up single sign-on.
  • Improved More reliable SAML and SCIM. Improved handling of user updates, SSO configuration changes, and IdP-initiated sign-ins. See Provision users with SCIM.

Admin roles, API tokens, and SCIM improvements#

Browser#

  • New Browser session settings are remembered. Browser session settings such as frame rate, bandwidth, audio mute, clipboard sync, statistics, and the number of virtual monitors are restored for your next connection, so you do not repeat the setup for each host. See Connect from a web browser.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New Give visibility without the risk of changes. Teams can assign the Admin (Read-Only) role, so managers, auditors, and support leads can review users, devices, and settings without making accidental changes. See Team roles and remote access.
  • New Read-only API tokens. API tokens can be issued in read-only mode: they authenticate normally but cannot make API calls that change data. Use them for dashboards, scripts, and third-party integrations that only read data. See Create an API token.
  • New Shorter-lived API tokens. The new API token dialog offers expiry presets of 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, and 2 weeks, plus a custom date, so you can issue a token that lasts only as long as its task and reduce exposure if it leaks.
  • New Match computers with your inventory. Computer details show the hostname reported by the operating system, and the computers list can show it as a column, which makes it easier to match Jump Desktop devices with MDM, asset inventory, and scripts. See View computer details.
  • New Copy Connect Configurations between teams. You can copy a Connect Configuration from one team to another. The copy is created in the destination team as a new, unassigned configuration; later changes must be made in each team separately. See Configure computers with Connect Configurations.
  • New Browser links for each device. Device URLs include links to connect and to share the screen in a browser, so you can start or share a web session without the native app. See Connect from a web browser.
  • New Billing exports. Billing administrators can export billable users, with their names and the time the export was generated, to track billable users, especially with group billing. See Use group billing.
  • Improved Clearer Connect settings. Connect settings show clearer labels, platform chips, and beta indicators, with an option to show or hide beta settings, so you can understand a configuration before you roll it out.
  • Improved Fewer failed SSO sign-ins. IdP-initiated SSO sign-ins continue into the standard sign-in flow, and users who choose the wrong SSO provider see a clearer error. See Set up single sign-on.
  • Improved Safer SCIM group sync. SCIM group replace operations validate members before applying destructive changes, and SCIM email matching is case-insensitive. This helps prevent accidental loss of access when your identity provider sends partial or differently cased data. See Provision users with SCIM.
  • Improved Clearer password feedback. Registration, password reset, and password change use a consistent password strength check, with a visible strength meter and a control to show or hide the password.

Team policies for virtual displays and sessions#

The first beta of Jump Desktop 10: faster, more responsive sessions, USB devices and game controllers on the host, and new controls for team administrators.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New Preconfigure which virtual displays appear when users connect with Fixed Virtual Displays, useful for workstations with no display attached, remote editors, and multi-monitor setups that need to stay consistent. See Team virtual display settings.
  • New Keep virtual displays across reconnects with Persistent Virtual Displays, so users return to the same workspace. Using the host's own keyboard or mouse turns the persistent display off.
  • New Keep hosts awake and available for remote access with Sleep Override.
  • New Limit how long sessions can last with Max Session Duration.
  • New Control which local users and groups can sign in on the host with Local Authentication Restrictions. Team administrators set these policies in the team's Connect settings, which apply to the assigned computers and groups. See Connect Configurations.

Dashboard, admin controls, and mobile browser improvements#

Browser#

  • Improved Trackpad gestures in mobile browsers. Trackpad navigation in sessions from mobile web browsers is more responsive and easier to use.
  • Improved Better display performance in sessions from mobile web browsers.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New Custom fields for users. Custom fields are available in the Users list, as they are for computers, so administrators can organize and manage users with their own fields. See Organize with tags and custom fields.
  • New Email changes sync from your identity provider. When a user's email address changes in your SSO provider, the change syncs to their Jump Desktop account. This requires SCIM and a verified domain.
  • New Delete user accounts safely. Team administrators can delete user accounts, with a confirmation step to prevent accidental deletions. In the dashboard, go to Team > Add Users, select the user, choose Delete from the more menu (⋮), and confirm. The user is removed immediately, and the deletion is recorded in the team's Activity Logs. SSO must be turned on for the team, and only the SSO owner can delete user accounts.
  • Improved Find the right computer faster. The My Computers grouped view shows the computers you can access more clearly, with better grouping, team names, and tags.

Browser connections, dashboard, and SCIM improvements#

Browser#

  • New Use a virtual display from the browser. You can create a virtual display in a browser session, so you are not limited by the monitors attached to the host. For example, you can run a 4K session on a host with no 4K monitor. See Virtual displays.
  • New Copy and paste in the browser. Browser sessions support the clipboard, so you can copy and paste between apps on your device and on the host. See Clipboard.
  • New Frame rate and bandwidth controls in the browser. Choose from preset frame rate and bandwidth options to match performance to your network and workload. See Session controls.
  • New Connect from My Computers. The My Computers page in the web app shows every computer you have access to, with team names and tags, and connects from your browser in one click. See Connect from a web browser.
  • Improved Faster browser sessions. Browser connections are more responsive and consistent, including on limited bandwidth.

Web and Teams Dashboard#

  • New Manage teams at scale. In Team Computers, Team Users, and Team Access Groups, select several rows or right-click to add or remove users and Access Groups and to change access.
  • New Track your own details on computers. Add custom columns to the Team Computers table for details such as asset ID, location, or owner. Tags appear in both the Team Computers and Team Users lists, which makes resources easier to organize and filter. See Organize with tags and custom fields.
  • New Know who added each computer. An optional attributed installer requires the person installing it to sign in to their Jump Desktop account and records their identity in the activity logs. Regular installers still work without signing in. See Add and manage computers.
  • Improved Clearer access changes. Adding or removing access in Team Computers, Team Users, and Team Access Groups uses a tabbed dialog that makes permission changes easier to follow.
  • Improved SCIM user reactivation. For teams using SCIM, a user removed in your SSO provider has their Jump Desktop account disabled. If the user is added back and your team has Reactivate Users in Team turned on (Team > Security), their account is reactivated. See Provision users with SCIM.

Fluid 2.0#

The Fluid 2.0 release for Jump Desktop for Mac and Windows, after a year of beta testing across four major releases.

Browser#

  • New Connect from any web browser without installing an app, including from phones, TVs, and VR headsets. The browser client is optimized for desktop and mobile browsers and is free. See Connect from a web browser.

  • New Organize your computers with tags. Tag computers by department, function, or location to make them easier to find and manage. Add tags with the + button or apply them in bulk, rename tags, and group computers by tag in the Tags view. See Organize with tags and custom fields.

Fluid 2.0 in-browser experience#

Updates to the Jump Desktop browser client, which was in beta at the time. To connect, sign in to the web app and click My Computers. See Connect from a web browser.

Browser#

  • New Control sessions with touch gestures. Mobile browsers support gestures for click, double-click, right-click, left mouse drag, scroll wheel, zoom, show and hide keyboard, right-click drag, middle-click, and middle mouse drag. See Controls and gestures.
  • New Send shortcut keys in one tap. Desktop and mobile browsers give quick access to keys such as Ctrl, Page Up, Page Down, Print Screen, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Cmd, Option, and Insert. On desktop browsers they appear in a column view; on mobile browsers, a scrollable toolbar at the bottom of the screen adds arrow keys, function keys F1 to F12, and more.
  • New Keys that match the host. The available keys adapt to the operating systems at each end. For example, connecting from a Mac to a Windows host offers Windows keys, and connecting from Windows to a Mac host offers Mac shortcuts.
  • New Live performance statistics. Turn on Stats in the connection settings drawer to show a draggable overlay with average ping time, packet loss, and the connection type. Values in red may indicate a problem affecting the connection. See Connection statistics.
  • Improved Smoother panning and scrolling in portrait, landscape, and zoomed-in views.
  • Improved External keyboards on mobile devices work more reliably, with desktop-like typing.

On the Jump Desktop for Teams Pro and Enterprise plans, group billing puts the teams in your organization on a single invoice, so you are not billed twice for someone who belongs to more than one team and you no longer manage a separate subscription per team.   • New Add SSO users without an invitation. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, once your team is connected to single sign-on, you can add users who already have an SSO account straight from Team > Tasks > Add User, instead of emailing each one an invitation. See Set up single sign-on.
  • New Verify your domains. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, adding and verifying your organization's domains lets new users skip the verification email and sends them to your identity provider automatically. See Verify your domain.
  • New Provision users with SCIM v2. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, your identity provider can keep user accounts in step with Jump Desktop, so people are added and removed as your directory changes. See Provision users with SCIM.
  • New Watermark sessions. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, administrators can put a watermark on the session window showing details such as the IP address, email, or user name of whoever is connected. See Watermark sessions.
  • Improved See more in the Users and Computers lists. The lists take custom columns, grouping, and filters, and remember how you left them. Selecting a row opens its details beside the list instead of navigating away, and you can act on several rows at once. See View computer details.
  • New Export lists and logs. Export the Users and Computers lists as CSV, JSON, Excel, or PDF once you have arranged them, and, on the Pro and Enterprise plans, export the activity and connection logs from the logs pages. See Activity and connection logs.

Cloud API, notes, and on-premise relays#

  • New Automate the dashboard with the REST API. The Jump Desktop cloud API lets you build Jump Desktop into your own apps and workflows, and script the things you would otherwise do by hand in the dashboard. See REST API.
  • New Notes and custom fields. Computers, users, and access groups each take a note, and you can add custom fields of your own. They are available through the API as well. See Organize with tags and custom fields.
  • New Run your own relay servers. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, on-premise high-availability relay servers let you route Jump Desktop traffic through your own infrastructure over a set range of UDP ports, so you can apply your own routing and quality-of-service rules. See On-premise relay.

  • New Disconnect a session from the dashboard. Open an active connection and select the red X to end that person's session on the host.
  • New Search and filter computers and users. The Computers and Users lists can be searched and filtered, so you can see at a glance which hosts are online, offline, or in use.
  • New Turn off remote access for a user. Turning off a user's remote access stops them connecting to the team's hosts and stops billing for them, which helps when someone is away for a while. Billing is prorated, and you can turn access back on at any time. Administrators keep managing the team with remote access off. See Team roles and remote access.

  • New Set Connect's settings from the dashboard. On the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan, a configuration assigned to hosts or to whole access groups fixes their Jump Desktop Connect settings, which can then no longer be changed on the host itself. It also covers settings the Connect app does not offer, such as turning off screen sharing. Connect shows that its settings are managed by the team.
