Lock the mouse cursor

Locking the cursor keeps it inside the session window and sends mouse movement to the remote computer, so it doesn't stop at the edge of the window. Games need it to look around; 3D and CAD apps need it to orbit, pan, and rotate a model.

Applies to

  • Jump Desktop on Windows, macOS, and iPad with a connected mouse or trackpad. Not available on Android or in a web browser.
  • Fluid connections to Windows, macOS, or Linux (beta) remote computers with Jump Desktop Connect. RDP and VNC connections don't support it, so the menu item is dimmed.

Lock or unlock the cursor

Choose Remote > Lock Pointer, or press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L.

To unlock, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L again or hold Esc.

Choose Remote > Lock Mouse Cursor, or press Ctrl+Cmd+Esc.

To unlock, hold Esc.

iPad: tap the wrench button in the session toolbar, then Mouse > Lock Mouse Pointer, or press Shift+Cmd+Option+P on a connected keyboard. To unlock, hold Esc. iPhone isn't supported.

Check that it worked

A message confirms the change, such as Cursor Locked (Hold ESC or press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L to unlock) on Windows or Cursor locked. Hold ESC to unlock. on macOS. Move the mouse toward the edge of the window: the cursor stays inside the session.

Tips

  • Lock the cursor while you move the view in a game or 3D app, and unlock it to use menus or toolbars.
