Jump Desktop Connect settings#

This reference describes each setting in the Jump Desktop Connect Settings window on the host (the computer you connect to), including its default value and effect. For a team, the Team setting column names the matching setting in a Connect Configuration; the Connect Configuration value overrides the local value.

Applies to#

  • Hosts running Jump Desktop Connect 10.15.23 on Windows or macOS.
  • Any user signed in at the host, unless a team manages the settings. See When a team manages settings.

To open the Settings window, click the settings (gear) icon in the Connect window, and then choose a page from the list on the left.

General#

Setting Platforms Default What it does Team setting
This computer's name: Windows, macOS The computer's host name The name displayed for this host in Jump Desktop. On a team computer named in the Teams dashboard, the field is locked and displays Visit your team's dashboard to change this computer's name. None. Rename the computer in the Teams dashboard.
Start Jump Desktop when my computer starts Windows, macOS On When off, Connect does not come online when the computer starts, so the host is unreachable until a user opens Connect. None. A Connect Configuration always turns this setting on.
Send anonymous crash reports Windows, macOS On Sends crash reports to help improve Jump Desktop. Send anonymous crash reports

Network#

Setting Platforms Default What it does Team setting
Proxy Settings > Type Windows, macOS Auto Auto, None, HTTPS, or SOCKS5. For HTTPS or SOCKS5, enter the Address (address:port) and, optionally, the Username and Password, and then click Apply. Use Defaults restores Auto. See Use a proxy server. None

Advanced#

Fluid Remote Desktop#

Setting Platforms Default What it does Team setting
Fluid Remote Desktop Windows, macOS On Allows Fluid connections to this host. The other settings in this group require this setting to be on. Fluid Enabled
Manual Connections (requires Teams subscription) Windows, macOS Off Accepts Cloudless Fluid connections by host name or IP address. Turn this setting on to use View Fingerprint and Copy Launch URL. See Cloudless Fluid. Manual Fluid Connections

Audio Capture Device: macOS Jump Desktop Audio The audio device from which Connect streams the Mac audio. None

RDP and VNC#

Diagnostics#

Displays the host's Host Name:, IP Address:, User Name:, Version:, and Machine ID:.

Button Platforms What it does
Check macOS Permissions... macOS 13 and later Opens the permissions assistant. See Grant macOS permissions to Connect.
Diagnostic Logs... Windows, macOS Creates an archive of Connect logs and opens the folder containing the archive.

Updates#

Install Updates Automatically (Recommend) Windows, macOS On Checks for and installs Connect updates automatically. Automatic Updates
Install Beta Updates Windows, macOS Off Installs beta versions of Connect. Update Channel

Check For Updates... checks for updates on demand. What's New... opens the Jump Desktop changelog.

Configuration#

Button Platforms What it does
Reset Settings Windows, macOS Resets Connect to factory defaults. No user can connect until Connect is configured again. See Reset Connect.
Prepare For Cloning Windows, macOS Configures Connect to register as a new computer the next time it starts; use it when building a computer image. See Prepare a computer image for cloning.

Uninstall#

macOS only. Uninstall Jump Desktop Connect removes Connect after you confirm and enter an administrator password. See Uninstall Connect.

When a team manages settings#

When a Connect Configuration assigned to the host does not turn on Local Configuration Changes, the window displays Settings are managed by your team's administrator, and most of the settings above cannot be changed. To determine which configuration applies, see Which configuration applies.

Settings only in Connect Configurations#

The Connect window has no control for the following settings. Team administrators on the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan configure them in a Connect Configuration.
