What's new in Jump Desktop 10#

The best remote session is the one you forget is remote. Jump Desktop Version 10 is like sitting down at the machine itself and bringing the devices on your desk with you. It also goes where it couldn't before. We're releasing a native app for Android phones and tablets, Linux computers can be hosts, and with Jump CLI your scripts and AI agents can connect too. Here's what's new:

Highlights#

  • Up to 480 frames per second: games, scrolling, and fast motion keep pace with high refresh rate screens.
  • Hardware encoding: sharper detail at the same bandwidth, less CPU use on the host, and longer battery life on your device.
  • High-performance virtual displays: a workspace at your screen's refresh rate that you can switch or keep between visits.
  • Professional USB devices: use your Wacom tablet, Stream Deck, and editing control panels such as the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel on Windows and Mac hosts. Needs Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise.
  • Security keys: sign in on the host with a FIDO security key such as a YubiKey, including keys that need a PIN. From Jump Desktop for Mac, with Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise.
  • Game controllers: play with your controller from Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android, or with touch controls on your phone or tablet.
  • iPhone and iPad: virtual displays for the first time, matched pixel for pixel to your screen, plus hardware decoding, Fluid 2.0, color quality levels, up to 120 frames per second, and game controllers.
  • Tools for IT administrators: keep managed hosts awake and available, limit who can sign in, and set session, display, and USB policies. Connect Configuration settings need Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise.
  • Jump Desktop for Android Beta: connect from a rebuilt app with touch, mouse, keyboard, virtual displays, and game controllers.
  • Jump CLI Beta: automate setup and team administration from a terminal or script, and let AI agents work across your hosts while you watch.
  • Linux hosts Alpha: connect to Linux hosts with hardware encoding and audio.

Up to 480 frames per second#

Games, scrolling, and other fast motion keep pace with the high refresh rate screen in front of you. Fluid sessions now stream at up to 480 frames per second.

Hardware encoding#

Fine detail stays sharp at the same bandwidth, the host uses less CPU, and your device uses less battery. Choose Codec > Hardware to encode on the host's GPU.

  • Works with NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel GPUs on Windows hosts, and on every Mac. Even Linux hosts have hardware acceleration, with more to come. See Hardware encoding requirements.
  • Handles up to six 4K monitors using the host's own displays, or four 4K virtual displays.

High-performance virtual displays#

Virtual displays get their biggest upgrade yet in Jump Desktop 10, with faster refresh rates, layouts you can save and switch, and displays that stay on the host between visits.

Professional USB devices#

Work with the tablet and controls on your desk as if they were plugged into the host.

  • Redirect your Wacom tablet over USB, and the host's Wacom driver and drawing apps work with the real device.
  • Redirect your Stream Deck and editing control panels, such as the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, to apps on the host.
  • Works from Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac to a Windows or Mac host, with Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise and USB redirection on for the host.

Security keys#

Sign in on the host with the security key in your hand, instead of typing a code or carrying a second key for remote work.

  • Redirect a FIDO security key, such as a YubiKey, from Jump Desktop for Mac, and websites and apps on the host treat it as a key plugged in there.
  • Keys that need a PIN work too. The host shows its own PIN prompt in the session; enter the PIN there, then touch the key if prompted.
  • Works to a Windows host or a Mac host, with Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise and USB redirection turned on for the host.
  • Team administrators control it separately from other devices with Allow Security Keys (FIDO) in a Connect Configuration.

Creative work#

See each stroke as you make it, and the host's true colors.

  • On high-latency connections, Input Trail shows your stylus and mouse strokes right away as a short, fading line, so you can keep drawing and dragging while the host's screen catches up. It's in Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac, on every plan.
  • On calibrated displays, Color Passthrough shows the host's colors unprocessed, from a Windows host or a Mac host with macOS 15 or later. It's in Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac, on every plan.

Game controllers#

Play your PC or Mac games from anywhere with the controller in your hands, or with touch controls when you have only your phone or tablet.

  • Connect your controller to your Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android device, and the host sees your game controller as an Xbox controller, with rumble. It works on every plan, and needs a host running Windows 11 or later, or macOS 15 or later, with USB redirection on and Allow Game Controllers left on in any Connect Configuration.
  • On iPhone, iPad, and Android, the on-screen controller has movable touch controls, with separate portrait and landscape layouts.
  • From Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac, share your Steam Controller, and Steam on the host can use its touchpads, gyro, and haptics as if it were plugged in there. Needs Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise, with Allow HID Devices on for the host.

Coding and everyday work#

Type in any language, use your mouse buttons, and zoom with a pinch while you work on the host.

  • Back and forward mouse buttons work on the host from Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac.
  • In Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac, pinch on a trackpad to zoom in on the remote desktop. It's on by default.
  • Composing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text is more reliable from Windows, Mac, iPhone, and iPad. On Mac, characters appear on the host as you compose.

Remote support#

Help someone without taking control away from them, with a clear choice between watching and interacting.

iPhone and iPad#

Virtual displays come to iPhone and iPad for the first time, and they're the feature you've asked for most. A Single Virtual Display fits the session to your device, matches your screen pixel for pixel at full Retina sharpness, follows rotation, and uses your screen's refresh rate. It's part of the biggest update to Jump Desktop for iPhone and iPad in years: sessions look sharper, fast motion stays smooth, and you can play your games with a controller in your hands.

  • No more pinching and zooming around a desktop built for someone else's monitor. A Single Virtual Display gives the host a desktop made for your iPhone or iPad, at your screen's exact resolution in full Retina quality, so text is crisp and apps fill the screen. Present on a monitor, TV, or projector with Use External Display, and it matches that display exactly instead. Turn it on the first time you connect, or any time from the Display menu.
  • On iPad, work on as many computers as you want at the same time. Each one opens in its own window, on your iPad's screen or on an external monitor, so you can keep an eye on AI agents working on several hosts, or keep your office desktop and a build machine in view together. Touch and hold a computer, then tap Connect in new window. See Connect to several computers at once.
  • With Codec > Hardware, your iPhone or iPad decodes the session in hardware, so motion stays smooth and your battery lasts longer. See Hardware decoding requirements.
  • Choose Fluid 2.0, Fluid, or Hardware from the new Codec menu.
  • Pick a Color Quality: Good for performance, High for sharp text, or Pro and Ultra for 10-bit color. Pro and Ultra need Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise.
  • On ProMotion iPhone and iPad models, sessions run at up to 120 frames per second. Leave Framerate on Auto to match your screen.
  • Pair a game controller with your iPhone or iPad, and the host sees an Xbox controller. No controller? Use the on-screen controller, with movable controls and separate portrait and landscape layouts.
  • Plug into a monitor, TV, or projector, and Use External Display puts the host's screen on the big screen without your on-screen controls, while you control the session from your iPhone or iPad. It's ready for presentations and for working at a desk.
  • Choose how long sessions stay connected in the background with Background Running Time, from a few minutes up to No Limit.
  • Tap the Settings button, then Show Connection Stats, to see how the connection is doing.

Jump Desktop for Android Beta#

Jump Desktop is back on Android. You asked for it, and this is a new app built from the ground up. It runs on Android 10 or later.

Jump CLI and AI agents Beta#

Automate Jump Desktop from a terminal or script, and let AI agents take on repetitive work across your hosts while you watch.

  • Set up a computer for remote access in one command, on this computer or a host over SSH, with any Jump Desktop account.
  • IT administrators can script Jump Desktop for Teams without writing REST API calls: pull connection history for any period or specific computers as JSON or CSV, find computers and users, and check who's online.
  • Claude Code, Codex, and other agents use jump-cli mcp to work on up to eight hosts at once with any Jump Desktop account, while you follow along and take control in Mission Control.

AI agents act on your hosts

An agent connected through Jump CLI can do anything the signed-in user on the host can do, such as deleting files or changing settings. Agents make mistakes, and text on a host's screen can contain instructions that mislead them. Watch agents in Mission Control, limit which hosts they can reach, and don't let them work on hosts where a mistake would be costly. See Limit what the agent can reach.

Linux hosts Alpha#

Connect to Linux hosts the way you reach Windows and Mac hosts, with hardware encoding and audio.

More improvements#

  • In Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac, click Show QR Code and finish signing in on your phone.
  • In Jump Desktop for Windows and Mac, remove a host you no longer use from your account with Remove My Access, without being at the host. It's for hosts that aren't joined to a team.
  • Sound now plays from Windows hosts with no sound device, such as virtual machines, with no extra setup. Jump Desktop Connect brings its own virtual speaker, and virtual displays give a host with no monitor a screen.
  • In Jump Desktop for Windows, export selected computers as a .jdz file with Export....

For IT administrators#

Keep managed hosts available and secure, control who can sign in, and set session, display, and USB policies. Connect Configuration settings need Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise.

Update to Jump Desktop 10#

  1. On each host, update Jump Desktop Connect.
  2. On each device, update Jump Desktop to 10.15.23 (macOS 11 or later on a Mac), or install the Android beta.
  3. Try it: connect with Fluid, turn on a virtual display from the Display menu, and open the Codec menu to see what your host offers.
