Check in on AI agents and long-running work¶
To check on AI agents, renders, or builds running on a remote computer, you connect briefly and leave. What matters is getting in quickly, finding the desktop as you left it, and not disturbing the work.
Applies to¶
- Jump Desktop on Windows and macOS: keep displays between visits and use observe mode.
- Jump Desktop on iPhone, iPad, and Android: quick checks, with displays kept by team settings.
- Fluid connections to Windows or Mac remote computers with Jump Desktop Connect 10 or later.
- Team settings need the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan.
Keep the displays between visits¶
Without kept virtual displays, the virtual displays are removed when you disconnect, and the next connection creates new ones. In Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac:
- Connect with virtual displays. See Virtual displays.
- Choose Display > Virtual Displays > Keep After Disconnect.
The virtual displays stay on the remote computer after you disconnect. See when kept displays are removed.
Keep the same size from every device¶
Kept displays adjust to the next connection's settings, so checking in from a laptop, then a desktop, can resize them.
- From Windows and Mac: in Jump Desktop on each device you check in from, set the same fixed virtual displays for the computer.
- From iPhone, iPad, or Android: these apps don't offer Keep After Disconnect, so a quick check from a phone resizes the kept display and removes it when you disconnect, unless a team administrator has set Persistent to Always Enabled.
- For team computers: a team administrator on the Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan can set fixed virtual displays and set Persistent to Always Enabled. These apply to every device.
Look without touching¶
In Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac, choose Remote > Observe so a stray click or keystroke doesn't interrupt the work. To start every connection this way, see Observe mode.
Check in automatically¶
Jump CLI (beta) can connect to a computer and take screenshots, so a script or an AI agent can check progress without you. See Watch and take over with Mission Control.
Check that it worked¶
From Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac, disconnect, then connect again: the Display menu lists the same virtual displays. From iPhone, iPad, or Android, this holds only when a team administrator has set Persistent to Always Enabled.
