Sign in to hosts without a password#

Passwordless login is a Connect Configuration setting that allows users to connect to a host over Fluid without entering the host's username and password. The connection shows the host screen in its current state: the sign-in screen, the lock screen, or the signed-in desktop. Use it to give team members access to a host without sharing its local account password.

Warning

Any user who can connect to a host that allows passwordless login gets full access to its screen without its password. Enable passwordless login only on hosts that require it.

Applies to#

  • Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise plan.
  • Team administrators, in a Connect Configuration.
  • Hosts running Jump Desktop Connect on Windows, macOS, or Linux Alpha.

Choose a setting#

Passwordless Login value Behavior
Not allowed (default) Every user must enter the host's username and password.
Only when no one is logged in macOS and Linux only: allowed when no user is signed in to the host and no other user is connected with Jump Desktop. In all other cases, and on Windows, the password is required.
Always allowed Allowed at all times, including while a user is signed in to the host and using it.

Steps#

  1. In the Teams dashboard, create or edit a Connect Configuration.
  2. Under Fluid Settings, set Passwordless Login.
  3. If you are enabling passwordless login, click Confirm in the Enable Passwordless Logins dialog.
  4. Click Save, and then assign the configuration to computers or Access Groups.

Result#

Jump Desktop connects without prompting for the host's username and password.

Limitations#

  • The Only when no one is logged in condition is checked when a connection starts; a session in progress is not ended if a user signs in later.
  • Passwordless sessions are not limited by Maximum Concurrent Connections.

If someone is at the computer#

Use Ask to Share Screen instead; the user at the host approves the request. In Jump Desktop on Android Beta, touch and hold the host in the computer list, and then tap Ask to share screen.
