CAD and 3D design¶
Work in CAD and 3D apps on a remote workstation with sharp lines and a viewport that follows your mouse. Lock the cursor to orbit, pan, and rotate a model without the pointer stopping at the edge of the window.
Applies to¶
- Jump Desktop on Windows and macOS. On iPad, you can lock the cursor with a connected mouse.
- Fluid connections to a remote computer with Jump Desktop Connect.
Set up the session¶
In Jump Desktop for Windows or Mac, during a Fluid session:
- Network: use Ethernet on both the remote computer and the device you connect from. See Set up the network.
- Displays: choose Display > Presets > Single Virtual Display, or Matched Virtual Displays for one per screen. On Windows, presets need Jump Desktop for Teams Pro or Enterprise. More than one virtual display needs Jump Desktop for Teams Enterprise. See Virtual displays.
- Codec: choose Remote > Codec > Hardware. On a Mac with an M-series Pro, Max, or Ultra chip, or a remote computer without a supported GPU, choose Fluid 2.0. See Which codec to use.
- Color: choose Remote > Color > High, for sharp lines and text. If the codec then switches to Fluid 2.0, the GPU can't encode High: keep Fluid 2.0, or choose Good to use Hardware. See Automatic switching.
Lock the mouse cursor¶
Lock the cursor while you orbit, pan, or rotate, and unlock it to use menus and toolbars. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L (Windows) or Ctrl+Cmd+Esc (macOS) to lock, and hold Esc to unlock. See Lock the mouse cursor.
Check that it worked¶
In connection statistics, Color shows 4:4:4 8bit for High (or 4:2:0 8bit if you chose Good), and Frames stays close to Max Frames while you orbit a model. If Frames drops, see Slow or laggy sessions.
