Use a proxy server¶
Use a proxy when a computer reaches Jump's cloud service only through one. Connect and Jump Desktop for Windows and macOS support HTTPS and SOCKS5 proxies. HTTPS means an HTTP proxy that supports CONNECT, for example proxy.example.com:8080.
Applies to¶
- Remote computers running Jump Desktop Connect on Windows, macOS, or Linux (beta).
- Jump Desktop on Windows and macOS.
Set a proxy in Connect¶
By default (Auto), Connect uses the computer's proxy settings only for web requests. Its connection to Jump's cloud service and Fluid sessions don't use a proxy.
- Open Jump Desktop Connect, click Settings (gear), then click Network.
- Under Proxy Settings, set Type to HTTPS or SOCKS5.
- Enter the Address as
address:port. Username and Password are optional. - Click Apply.
To stop using a proxy, choose None and click Apply. Use Defaults returns to Auto immediately and clears the saved username and password.
Set a proxy in Jump Desktop¶
The proxy applies only to computers set up with Jump Desktop Connect, not to manual connections.
- Click File > Settings, then click Network.
- Under Proxy Settings, set Type to HTTPS or SOCKS5.
- Enter the Address as
address:port. Username and Password are optional. - Click Apply.
To stop using a proxy, choose None and click Apply.
- Open Jump Desktop settings and click Network.
-
In Proxy URL, enter the proxy as a URL:
Use
https://orsocks5://and include the port. Username and password are optional.
Jump Desktop saves a valid URL after a few seconds. To stop using a proxy, enter none or click Reset; Jump Desktop then connects to Jump's cloud service directly.
Limitations¶
- If Connect shows Settings are managed by your team's administrator, its proxy settings can't be changed in the app.
- If Connect repeatedly fails to sign in through the configured proxy, it also tries without a proxy, and with the computer's detected proxy settings if it found any.
- Jump Desktop for iOS and Android has no proxy settings.
