Manage your Jump account¶
Manage your own Jump Desktop account in the dashboard: change the email that identifies you, turn on or reset 2-factor authentication, and delete the account. Use this page when you move to a new email address, want a second sign-in step to protect your account, or have lost your authenticator device.
Applies to¶
- Your own Jump Desktop account, managed in the dashboard. Home holds your profile; Security holds sign-in settings.
Change your email¶
You can switch your account email, which identifies you in Jump Desktop apps, to the email of any sign-in method linked to your account.
- To use a Google or Apple address, first link that account: in Security, under Social Sign-In, click the Google or Apple button and sign in.
- Click Home, open the More (⋮) menu on your profile card, and click Change Email.
- Choose the email and click Change.
Turn on 2-factor authentication¶
You need a Jump Desktop password first. If you only sign in with Google or Apple, click Set Your Password in Security.
- In Security, click Activate 2-Factor Authentication.
- Scan the barcode with an authenticator app, or click Can't scan the code? to enter a key manually.
- Click Next, enter the 6-digit code, and click Verify.
- Save the backup codes with Download Backup Codes or Copy to Clipboard, then click Close. Each code signs you in once if you lose your authenticator.
To manage 2-factor authentication later, open the More (⋮) menu on the 2-Factor Authentication card:
- View Recovery Codes
- Get New Recovery Codes (your current codes stop working)
- Deactivate 2-Factor Authentication
If a team you belong to requires 2-factor authentication, you can't deactivate it yourself.
Reset 2-factor authentication after losing your device¶
If you have a backup code and no team requires 2-factor authentication:
- Sign in to the dashboard. At the verification step, click Use Backup Codes and enter a code (it starts with
jd-). - In Security, open the More (⋮) menu on the 2-Factor Authentication card, click Deactivate 2-Factor Authentication, then Turn Off.
- Turn 2-factor authentication on again with your new device.
If you have no backup codes, or a team requires 2-factor authentication:
- Teams Enterprise members: ask a team administrator to reset it. You get an email with a link; open it and click Deactivate 2FA. See Add and manage users.
- Other accounts: Jump Desktop support can't reset 2-factor authentication for you.
Delete your account¶
Warning
Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. You lose access to all your computers.
- Leave or delete every team you belong to. You can't delete an account that's in a team.
- Click Home, open the More (⋮) menu on your profile card, and click Delete Account.
- Type your email address and click Delete Account.
You can create a new account with the same email later, but your settings start fresh and a team administrator must add you back to any teams.
