Get started with Jump Desktop for Teams

Jump Desktop for Teams lets an administrator add an organization's computers and users to a team and control who can connect to each computer. Use it when several people need remote access, for example so staff can reach their office computers from home. Setup takes four steps: create a team, add computers, invite users, and grant access. A team administrator does every step.

Before you start

  • A Jump Desktop account. Sign in to the Teams dashboard.
  • Access to the computers you want to add. Pre-configured installers are available for Windows and macOS.

Steps

  1. Create the team. In the Teams dashboard sidebar, click Create Team. Enter a Team Name, optionally invite people by email, and choose who can connect to computers added with the team installer (see Installer access options). Click Create Now, then Finish.
  2. Add computers. On the team page, click Add Computers, then click your installer under Pre-configured installers. Copy a link (Windows (EXE), Windows (MSI), or Mac OS (PKG)) and run the installer on each computer to join it to the team. See Add and manage computers.
  3. Add users. On the team page, click Add Users, then Invite Someone, and send an email invite or create a public invite link. See Add and manage users.
  4. Grant access. Click Computers, open a computer, click Add Remote Access, and select users or Access Groups. Skip this for people the installer already grants access to. To manage access for many computers, use Access Groups.

Installer access options

The Create Team wizard creates your first installer and an Access Group, Team Name's Group 1, that contains you and everyone you invited in the wizard.

Option Who can connect to computers added with this installer
Everyone I invited earlier will be allowed to connect. (default) You and everyone you invited in the wizard.
No one will be allowed to connect. I'll give access manually once the computer is added. Only you. Give others access per computer (step 4).

Warning

With Everyone I invited earlier, every person you invited can connect to every computer added with that installer. If each person should reach only their own computer, choose No one and grant access per computer.

To check what an installer grants, click Add Computers, then click the installer under Pre-configured installers and read Remote Access Permissions. To change access later, edit the Access Group or a computer's remote access.

The 14-day free trial starts when you add the first computer. See plans and pricing or click Billing on the team page.

Check that it worked

  • The computer is listed in Computers.
  • Users who accepted their invite are listed in Users.
  • Users see their computers in Jump Desktop, or in the dashboard under My Computers.
