Connect from a web browser

Connect to your Windows, Mac, or Linux computers from a web browser, with no app to install. Browser access is free with any Jump Desktop account. Use it on a device without the Jump Desktop app, such as a Linux computer, or to join a screen sharing link someone sent you.

Applies to

  • Client: Web browser.
  • Remote computer: Windows or Mac running Jump Desktop Connect 7 or later, or Linux (beta). See Install Jump Desktop Connect.
  • Account: any Jump Desktop account. Browser access is free.

Connect to your computers

  1. Sign in at app.jumpdesktop.com.
  2. Click My Computers. Your computers and your teams' computers are listed.
  3. Click a computer to open the session in a new tab.
  4. If asked, enter the remote computer's username and password. If shown, select Remember credentials in this browser to save them in this browser only.

Connect from a team

In your team's Computers, find the computer, click the arrow next to Connect, and choose Connect using browser. The Connect button remembers your last choice.

Open the link, then under In Browser click Start Sharing. If the link has expired, ask the sender for a new one.

Session controls

Use the floating toolbar at the top of the session. Drag it to move it.

Control What it does
Shortcut keys Shows shortcut keys to send to the remote computer. On touch devices, also opens the on-screen keyboard.
Settings drawer Full screen, Disconnect, and the settings below.

The settings drawer includes:

Clipboard

  • Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, such as Edge: turn on Clipboard Sync and click Allow when the browser asks for clipboard permission. Until you allow it, a warning icon appears next to Clipboard Sync; click it for steps to allow it from the address bar.
  • Other browsers, such as Safari and Firefox: with Clipboard Sync on, use the toolbar button to send your clipboard to the remote computer. Safari also has a toolbar button to get the remote computer's clipboard.

Limitations

  • The browser client has no file transfer, USB redirection, microphone, observe mode, privacy mode, or color quality settings.
  • When you join through a screen sharing link, Clipboard Sync, Resolution matching, and Virtual Display aren't available.
  • Saved credentials stay in that browser. To sync them, use the Jump Desktop app.
