Privacy mode¶
Privacy mode keeps people near the remote computer from seeing or interfering with your session. Use it when the remote computer is in a shared space, such as an open-plan office. While it's on, the remote computer:
- Blanks its physical displays.
- Blocks its local keyboard and mouse.
- Locks when your session ends.
Applies to¶
- Jump Desktop on Windows, macOS, iPhone, iPad, and Android.
- Fluid sessions to remote computers running Jump Desktop Connect on Windows or macOS. Linux isn't supported.
- VNC connections to a Mac with Screen Sharing turned on, which don't need Connect. See VNC connections to a Mac.
Turn on privacy mode¶
During a Fluid session:
- Windows and macOS: choose Remote > Privacy Mode.
- iPhone and iPad: if the toolbar is hidden, tap the three-dot bar at the top of the screen. Tap the wrench button, then Privacy > Privacy Mode.
- Android: in the session toolbar, tap the wrench button, then Privacy Mode. A message confirms Privacy Mode On or Privacy Mode Off.
Choose it again to turn it off.
The setting is saved for that computer, so later sessions start with it on. On Windows and macOS you can also set it before connecting: in the computer's settings, select Privacy Mode on the Privacy page.
Enforce privacy mode for a team¶
Team administrators can control privacy mode with the Privacy Mode setting under Fluid Settings in a Connect Configuration:

Result¶
When you disconnect, the displays and local input come back and the computer is locked.
Limitations¶
On a macOS client, Privacy Mode isn't shown in sessions started with Ask to Share Screen.
VNC connections to a Mac¶
In Jump Desktop on macOS, iPhone, and iPad, Privacy Mode is also available when you connect over VNC to a Mac using Screen Sharing or Apple Remote Desktop. Turn it on from the same menus as in a Fluid session. The remote Mac shows its lock screen with Screen locked by followed by your username or device name. It isn't available on other VNC servers.
Connect isn't part of these connections, so team Privacy Mode settings don't apply. To enforce privacy mode, have users connect with Fluid through Connect.
