Connect to several computers at once#

Jump Desktop can keep sessions to several hosts (the computers you connect to) open simultaneously, so you can switch between hosts without disconnecting.

For example:

  • A developer keeps a Windows PC and a Mac open side by side.
  • A support technician keeps a customer's host open in one tab while checking a second host in another.
  • A developer checks in on AI agents running on two hosts from an iPad.

Applies to#

  • Jump Desktop on Windows, macOS, and iPad.
  • Jump Desktop on iPhone and Android Beta connects to one computer at a time.

Open several sessions#

Connect to each computer as usual. Each session opens in its own window.

Connect to as many computers as you need. To group sessions as tabs:

  • One computer: right-click it and choose Connect in New Tab.
  • Several computers: select them, right-click, and choose Connect in New Tabs, or Connect in New Tabbed Window to group them as tabs in a new window.

iPad: connect to as many computers as you need. Each session opens in its own window, which you can place on your iPad's screen or on an external monitor.

  1. In the computer list, touch and hold a computer, then tap Connect in new window.
  2. Repeat for each computer.
  3. To return to a computer that is already connected, touch and hold it, then tap Show.

Keyboard, mouse, and trackpad input goes to the active window. A hidden window stays connected, and its screen updates pause until you show the window again.

Keep sessions connected in the background (iPhone and iPad)#

When Jump Desktop on iPhone or iPad is in the background, sessions stay connected for the duration set in Settings > Connection & Background > Background Running Time (10 minutes by default). To keep sessions connected while you use other apps for longer periods, choose a longer duration, up to No Limit.

Check that it worked#

  • Windows: each connected computer has its own session window.
  • macOS: the sessions appear as tabs in one window.
  • iPad: touching and holding a connected computer shows Show, and each window shows its own host.
